The Chairman stated that Lieutenant Commander Laurensonk attitude was inconsistent with that of the representative of the Guilds at the meeting at home when he had agreed "that their members could not look to the Navy alone for a solution of the problem".

Mr. Brown pressed for the matters to be discussed in its entirety.

The Chairman said the basis of the present regulations, the extension and amendment of which was the object of the Committee, was the recommendations of the "Sui-in" Piracy commission which had fully represented all interests. Lieutenant Commander Laurenson disagreed.

Mr. Brown said much had been learned since then, They were in a position to submit practical proposals to the Government. It was not right that all parties should not be allowed to express their views on the whole question.

The meeting was adjourned until the Chairman could put the questions raised before the Government.
